Saturday to Saturday lets are the norm from about April to October and short breaks are only possible in this period if there are gaps close to the time (usually two weeks in advance of the date). Please check the availability calendar. Rates and minimum stay are displayed on the rates table. 5 nights are normally the same price as a weeK as I never do one night stays and rarely, two. I will pencil you in if the period you would like to stay is more than a year ahead and then contact you to confirm approximately a year in advance of your stay - a deposit then will confirm the booking.
HOW TO MAKE A BOOKING Please email me with a request for dates . I will reply within a few hours (normally, if I am not sleeping or travelling) to give you a quote and answer any questions you may have. When you confirm that you definitely want to book, which I would expect you to do by return if you want me to temporarily hold the space, I will ask you to fill in the booking form (link above) having read the Terms and Conditions of booking and rental. At this time I will remove the period you require from the instant booking sites but leave the other sites on which the cottage appears open to enquiries.
I would expect that the booking form is submitted within 48 hours and the transfer of the deposit (25% of the rental cost all periods except for Christmas and New Year when the deposit is 33%) to be initiated in order to secure the booking.*** If I don't hear back from you with notice of the initiation of the payment within that time, then I will assume that you are not booking after all and make it available to others. (I do this because of past experience of 'definite' answers resulting in my holding periods, waiting to hear from people who then disappear, and missing out on other potential bookings!) Your booking will be confirmed on receipt and acceptance of the payment. If your deposit payment is made after the due period has passed, the cottage may have already been let to another.
NOTE THAT YOU ARE STRONGLY ADVISED TO TAKE OUT CANCELLATION INSURANCE FOR ANY REASON. Payment of the balance is normally made by BT or UK Cheque 3 months in advance of arrival. Please add £7 for an overseas transfer to the bank as there is a receiving fee. A service such as Transferwise generally gives you a much better rate than the banks. I have signed up to it myself for my overseas transfers. See WISE for the very simple process of signing up and seeing what rate they offer. If you use my link, they now offer a discount off the fees but the good thing is there is no receiving fee at my bank for this. You can use a credit card for a small extra fee to them on Transferwise. You are advised to take out holiday insurance to guard against unforeseen cancellation as the balance payment is non-refundable once paid. However, I will endeavour to relet the cottage, in which case, up to the full balance is refundable, depending on whether I can let part or full time of the period. The deposit remains non-refundable, except in exceptional circumstances.

At certain times of year if you stay over 3 nights the following nights are on a discounted sliding scale. 5 nights are normally the same as a week but short breaks are only occasionally available, and rarely in the main season. I will always give you the lowest price on the internet so if I have calculated less (I have done some complicated sums) on another site, that is what you get. Weekly stays normally run from Saturday to Saturday. There are no additional costs involved apart from the cost of transferring money which of course is nil within the UK. An overseas bank to bank transfer to my bank (unless using a service such as Wise) removes £7 on arrival so I ask you to add that to the amount so we receive the specified amount. The price you see here is the price you pay (excluding transfer costs, if any). Normal method of payment is by bank to bank transfer for UK bookings. If you are coming from abroad there are also other methods such as Transferwise, now called Wise, (1st transfer is free or has £15 off, if you use my referral code https://transferwise.com/u/felicitya4 ) xe-trade, xoom.com, currenciesdirect.com which work out cheaper than the bank charges. Canadians have recommended http://www.canadianforex.ca/ to me. Check out if this is better than Transferwise perhaps. There is no receiving fee at my bank if the amount arrives in sterling already. For those in Great Britain either cheque or bank to bank transfer please.
If you want to pay using a credit card, then please book through www.houfy.com/1016 On this site the rent is slightly more but please note that Houfy charges no service fee, unlike most of the online travel agents and you communicate directly with me through there. I pencil in bookings which are more than a year in advance and confirm a year ahead. Only at this time do I ask for a deposit (25% of the booking).
