Dublin Apartment for Two - our own holiday home

DUBLIN LET FOR 2

If you already know me ( see below) and you are looking for a quiet, well equipped (as a home from home) apartment,  10 to 15 mins by bus to Dublin city centre, suitable for two people, then our Dublinletfor2 might be the answer for you. Parking and wifi included.

Please don't be confused by the fact that this is on my English cottage website.  It is just one page for Dublin on there and the headings at the top relate to the cottage, not the Dublinletfor2.  We have a holiday apartment in a very conveniently placed location in Dublin, in the Donnybrook/Ballsbridge area. This is a very upmarket area of Dublin where houses in our road change hands in the several millions and it is popular with the foreign embassies as their Dublin base. My apartment which is in a seventies block in a private complex, built originally as an hotel (hence the large rooms) is 10 minutes on the bus to St Stephen's Green and Grafton Street or a leisurely walk (about a mile and half) through Georgian Streets. The aircoach from Dublin Airport stops yards from the door but if you want to hire a car for your stay then you have free parking (like gold dust in Dublin!) in a video monitored private car park in the apartment complex. This link shows you where Ailesbury Road is on Google maps.  We are at the top end, close to the river which can be seen in blue. Ailesbury Road straddles both Donnybrook and Ballsbridge.

Due to management dictates we cannot rent commercially any longer so I only have friends to stay and the rent is not really ‘rent’ but a suggestion of your donation which is below commercial rates for equivalent accommodation.  They are all helping me with my very large service charges in Dublin!  Many of these friends we have got to know through their stays at the cottage.

Although a large apartment in terms of room size, we keep it just for a maximum of two people as it has only one bedroom.  Because we use it ourselves, although our personal stuff is all packed away, it is ready and waiting for 'instant living'. We want you to enjoy it as if it were your own holiday home, and as such, it is equipped with all the normal paraphernalia of a home, not as a bare holiday let with nothing in the kitchen drawers or cupboards.  You won't have to rush out to buy the salt, the sugar, the tea, the coffee etc as there is always a basic store cupboard ( not your entire holiday food!) and if you finish something you are just asked to replace it with something similar.

The kitchen is modern and well equipped. There is a dishwasher, two kinds of electric coffee machines, two non-electric ones (French press and hob top espresso pot) microwave, air fryer, double oven, grill and hob.  Please note that there is no Cable TV but it is a Smart TV unconnected to any live stations. (I also have a Chromecast dongle) so you can watch Netflix if you have a subscription and your home TV stations if you have an appropriate app. There is DVD player with a few Irish themed DVDs. All in a large light-filled sitting room which overlooks leafy Ballsbridge. There is plenty of comfortable seating and a dining table for six, should you have visitors, although this number is limited to 4 (+2 resident) and no loud parties allowed.  Also no animals to stay or visit. The bathroom has a bath and and over the bath power shower, basin and loo and a heated towel rail.  There is a cloakroom as well with loo and wash basin and a washing machine. The bed is a super king base with two single mattresses, made up as an Austrian twin (separate duvets) so suitable for couples or close friends.

Parking and wifi are provided. Broadband is fast and for unlimited downloads. We leave comprehensive folders of how things work, what buses to take, things to see and do and of course emergency numbers should you need any help. Upright Chappell piano so any pianists are welcome to play it. Bring your own music!

It is not a serviced apartment so if you are staying longer than a week then you manage your own change of linen and towels from the plentiful supplies provided. There is a washing machine in the cloakroom and drying racks - no tumble drier as washing dries incredibly quickly, especially if the central heating is on.

We do not aim to let friends use this all year round but hope to get just enough in the suggested donations to cover our service charges and expenses.  Therefore the starting days are completely flexible, subject to availability of course. Although I live in England I come over to personally clean and maintain the apartment to make sure everything is as near perfect as possible for your arrival.  Chances are that it will be available for the time you request as I have friends stay very infrequently and our own visits are pretty flexible.

Rates are quoted in pounds sterling. Price table below gives the all inclusive price for a week's stay. There are no extra charges, save for those involved in the transfer of funds,, if any.  I only lend on a weekly basis, because I travel from England for change arounds and maintenance. There are no hidden extras, no added cleaning fee, no security deposit, no 'service fee' as added on now by the major listing sites. I do have insurance specifically to cover friends and family staying. This is an arrangement between friends so everything is on trust.  Please contact me if you know me.

I no longer advertise on VRBO where I had 30 5 star reviews.  Some of these are now on Houfy.com/1034 where you will also find availability shown.  I also briefly advertised on TripAdvisor where I had just four reviews, all five star.  Here are just a few but of course I gave up renting commercially in 2018 (and I never rented more than 6 times a year as we use it ourselves) so they are old, but still valid, as everything is much the same :

“We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful spacious apartment. ”

My husband and I had enjoyed a week in Felicity's lovely apartment. Everything we needed was provided and detailed instructions were easy to follow and very helpful. Felicity made herself available by email and was very hospitable. The apartment is in a lovely part of Dublin. We enjoyed walking downtown but were also happy that buses and taxis were readily available. We also appreciated how quiet the building is. Felicity's suggestions on places to go and sights to see were also very helpful. We will recommend this lovely accommodation to others!

“Location, close to city, and all amenities.”

My daughter and I spent a week at this wonderful quite ,spacious apartment,. ,there wasn't a thing we needed that was not provided by Felicity, except for of course food, though she did leave enough to eat after our long journey from California. Our only problem was the duration of our trip was too short, would stay longer In future. I highly recommend Felicity and her exceptional dwelling, and plan to stay there whenever I return to Dublin, I hope to have many more visits, as I am a local, was born an raised there.

“Could not have been better!”

This apartment is truly lovely. It well appointed, immaculate, quiet, and very comfortable. The owner has given attention to every detail, and from the moment we booked, everything was perfect. We were provided detailed instructions on all we needed to know as well as how to get the most out of the area. The convenient location is steps from main bus lines and a delightful walk to the DART. We loved it and look forward to staying here again!

“wonderful stay”

We stayed for two weeks in the first half of February. The whole experience was wonderful. I emailed with Felicity before, during, and after the rental and she was always prompt in replying and answering any questions I had (even those not directly about the rental or local attractions. The property is very clean, quiet, and secure. The furnishings, appliances, and fixtures are very nice. I have some back issues and this was one of the most comfortable beds I've slept on (besides my own). It feels much more like a home than a typical rental. The only issue we had was the internet going down for quite a while on our second day there - Felicity stayed on top of it and kept us informed (apparently it was down for a large area) even though she was in a different country.y

Everything we could have wanted!
My husband and I loved our time in Felicity's beautiful, sparkling clean apartment! Located in fashionable Donnybrook only a few minutes' walk away from shops and restaurants, we were oh-so comfortable and felt absolutely at home here! The kitchen was stocked amply with pots/pans/utensils if one wanted to cook at home, the bed was extremely comfortable, the building quiet and in a very safe neighborhood. We can't say enough about how wonderful our stay there was and recommend it highly to anyone! Oh, and the Dublin bus stop and Aircoach bus stop were just around the corner! Fabulous!

A home away from home with an incredible view
This apartment is in a most ideal location in Donnybrook in Dublin - very close to downtown but situated in a quiet oasis, so you get the best of both worlds. Public transport from Donnybrook right to downtown is fantastic, with buses arriving practically every minute. The apartment feels larger than the pictures and the view out the huge window in the living room is incomparable - a view across Dublin's southside, leafy and elegant, and it certainly made me get out of bed every morning just to see how the colours had changed from the day before. The apartment is very comfortable and clean - no glitches with anything, reliable internet, great kitchen with everything you need, two bathrooms, and it feels incredibly secure so no worries about intruders or any such thing. I highly recommend it and I have stayed here with my husband four times already. Plenty of walks around as well - you can access the seafront easily and of course there are many beautiful parks around, including Herbert Park etc. For any tennis players there are also plenty of clubs!

Relaxing, enjoyable base for experiencing Dublin and surrounding area
We loved our stay at this comfortable, light-filled apartment--the giant windows in every room offered views out to the ever-changing sky and treetops with a peek of the sea to the East. We loved the Donnybrook neighborhood! It was close enough to Dublin's city center to walk or take the bus (we mostly walked downtown and then took the bus back), but felt like we came "home" to our own "village" with local shops and pubs. We typically spent the day out exploring the many sites of Dublin and then came back for dinner and relaxing. We shopped at the green grocer, meat market, liquor store, Tesco, and Donnybrook Fair for simple meal preparation supplies. And we ate excellent meals in the neighborhood at O'Connells and Rolys (and saw many other places we wanted to try but ran out of time). The flat is exactly as described in the listing--in fact I think the photos don't quite do it justice. It is impeccably clean and the kitchen is well-fitted for easy food preparation. The bathroom had the best lighting of our entire trip! We appreciated Felicity's advice and assistance regarding navigating the Aircoach during the bus strike, as well as seeing the sights, such as my question for filling our last day. She recommended a Dart ride along the sea to the village of Dalkey for a walk and lunch. Perfect! I recommend this flat very highly and we hope we can return soon.

Spacious, well-appointed apartment in one of Dublin's best locations
We have appreciated the comfort and space provided by this lovely apartment, situated in a quiet, well-maintained complex. The location has been wonderful, with easy access into the city by bus or Dart, and with shops, restaurants, cafes, park and pub so close by. We are also grateful to the owner for her quick response to inquiries, her attention to detail and her consideration in preparing for our arrival. The apartment was exactly as described and spotless in presentation, with the added unexpected bonus of the wonderful views through those big windows. Thank you again.
